NOTE: There is no attempt to make sense out of this attempt.

Attempt was to set Hood up as an access point without disrupting its current role wireless client. They appear to be mutually exclusive. I'll continue to use an HW access point instead because this route is either not possible or will take too much time to master.

hostapd

iw list

sudo apt-get install hostapd
sudo emacs /etc/default/hostapd &

create the following new file

sudo emacs /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf&

https://www.aelius.com/njh/subnet_sheet.html

 sudo emacs interfaces&
 cat interfaces.accesspoint
 # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8)
 auto lo
 iface lo inet loopback

 auto wlan0
 iface wlan0 inet dhcp
     	    wpa-ssid ROSWorkshop
           wpa-psk eagle705nest

cont hostapd

http://askubuntu.com/questions/180733/how-to-setup-an-access-point-mode-wi-fi-hotspot

AP is in the supported list
